But the crypto market, still scarred by the 2022 bear and the collapse of inefficient protocols, sees any cost spike as a warning sign: the network is spending too much, and its native token holders will bear the dilution.
During DeFi Summer 2020, I watched a different panic: yield farmers fled from protocols that raised reward rates, fearing inflation. Today, the fear is capex-driven. But the analogy with TSMC is more profound than it appears. The proving cost is the price of true trustlessness. Trust is no longer a promise; it's a protocol.
Now, the contrarian angle: the sell-off is not just irrational – it's a classic misreading of capital structure.
